For groups of 12 or less, we offer the opportunity to do some volunteering as part of our Monday nature conservation programme. The focus is on habitat management and access to greenspace. Booking is essential.
In autumn and winter activities typically include:
scrub clearance
maintenance and repairs
tree planting
wildflower sowing
In spring and summer, activities include:
hand-pulling invasive species along our river corridor
species monitoring and surveying
For groups of more than 12, we can facilitate bespoke activities in our greenspace. These can incur a cost to cover officer time and resources.
To contact our volunteering coordinator, email parksvolunteers@luton.gov.uk to find out more.
The Wildlife Trust BCN runs a programme called Wild Work Days which are specifically designed for corporate groups to get out on our reserves and involved in our work. These days are great opportunities for teams to get involved in practical and educational work on our reserves and are very popular with companies and their staff as they provide a great team building experience, getting people outdoors and connected with nature.
Our Wild Days out are best suited to groups of between 8-25 although we are able to at times make exceptions for larger groups with enough time in advance. We have a variety of days depending on the time of year for corporate groups to book onto, including;
Habitat Management Days, where you’ll get involved with day to day tasks on one of our nature reserves, like tree planting, invasive species removal and fence building.
Educational and Experience Days, giving the chance to learn new skills and help produce useful data for The Trust through surveying and monitoring.
As well as Wild Wellbeing Days, which focus on mental health and all-round wellbeing through building a connection to nature.
Charges apply, that are available upon enquiry.
The best point of contact for getting in touch with us to arrange these is Corporate@Wildlifebcn.org, we also have a form online that can be filled out giving us the necessary details to organise a Wild Work Day. This can be found here - Wild Work Day Form | Wildlife Trust for Beds, Cambs & Northants (wildlifebcn.org) - https://www.wildlifebcn.org/form/wild-work-day-form. All of our corporate activities depend on the time of year requested, location and group size.

Community gardening project Edible High Town is always happy to accommodate small numbers of corporate volunteers. We're currently paired with Sodexo who've included us in their employee volunteer offering. This opportunity works best for 1 to 3 people at a time. We're not able to accommodate larger groups.
Our gardens are located close to Luton Station, and there are public car parks nearby.
